All staff, students and visitors are requested to co-operate with and support college policy and procedure as follows:
- Reduce volumes of waste created on campus where possible.
- Re-use materials and products where possible.
- Make use of available facilities to recycle where possible.
- Raise and promote general awareness of environmental issues with fellow staff and students.
Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of FE was recently awarded Eco Campus of the Year at the Repak Recycling Awards 2010 in the Dublin Convention Centre, Spencer Dock. The college shared the accolade with UCC. This is a highly prestigious award which was presented to members of the College Green Team by Minister for the Environment John Gormley and reflects the work and effort put into the college’s green campaign over recent years. The Repak Recycling Award is made from recovered/recycled glass, wood, steel and plastic. The award was specially commissioned by Repak and was made by Kilkenny based artist Ronan Halpin.
The Green Flag is awarded to schools and colleges upon successful implementation of a seven step programme which allows a college to take repsonsibilty for the environmental impact of their campus.Coláiste Dhúlaigh is the first College of Further Education to receive this prestigous award. The award, which has been made to numerous primary and secondary schools, is available to colleges and universities and has only previously been awarded to one other university (UCC) worldwide.
