Sports & Cultural Activities
A 1st for Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education
Students have access to quality sports facilities (with a gym in both Coolock and Kilbarrack) and are involved in many sporting events and activities which are organised through Students’ Union and the CDVEC Sports and Cultural Council.
Sports and Cultural Week
Earlier this year Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education created a position for a Recreation Officer. This is a first within the City of Dublin VEC. The role of the officer is to organise, facilitate and promote opportunities for the students to partake in Sports & Cultural Activities, in association with the Students Union. To this end Minister of State for Food and Horticulture, Trevor Sargent, launched our campaign to secure Green Flag status for our college. Stephen Rea, one of our most famous actors, whose son attends Coláiste Dhúlaigh, launched our Sports & Cultural Week. He spoke at the presentation of prizes at our Film Competition. The programme for our inaugural Sports & Cultural Week, from Monday 28th April to Thursday 29th April 2008, had a wide range of activities including:

This event will hopefully go from strength to strength in future years. Next year we hope to field some Soccer and Gaelic teams to compete in VEC and other competitions and wear the college colours proudly! We pride our college on working hard to meet not alone the academic needs of our students with small classes and lots of individual attention, but we aim to look after the Sports & Cultural needs also.
