FETAC Award (Level 5 – CASLT), Higher National DiplomaThis course is designed to satisfy the increasing demand from students who wish to pursue a career in Applied Biology, Bio- Technology or Bio-Medical Science or continue their studies to degree level in the Sciences.

YEAR 1
Anatomy and Physiology, Laboratory
Techniques, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Cell Biology 1, Biochemistry 1, Analysis of Scientific Data, Chemistry for Biology 1, Laboratory Management, Physics.
YEAR 2
Cell Biology 2, BioChemistry 2, Molecular Biology,
Clinical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Project/Work Based Assignment, Chemistry for Biology 2
CERTIFICATION
Higher National Diploma (Edexcel)
Anatomy and Physiology, Laboratory Techniques, Microbiology and Physics will also recive FETAC Level 5 Certification
DURATION
2 Years
ENTRY REquirements
Leaving Certificate and interview. Mature students are welcome.
Career opportunities
Laboratories, Hospitals, Food Manufacture and the Pharmaceutical Industries. Students may also use the course for entry to degree courses in Science in Ireland or abroad or they may wish to pursue further study in the areas of Toxicology, Bio-Technology or Quality Control in Food Production.
