Computer System Technician
FETAC Award (Level 5 – CELTX) and (Level 6 – CCNMX)This two-year course is designed to build the students confidence and skills in Networking, Computer Maintenance, Web Authoring and Electronics. The course has a high practical content to maximise and develop new skills.

YEAR 1
Hardware Essentials, Software Systems, Networking
Essentials, Electronics (Digital), Database Methods,
Web Authoring, Communications and Work Placement.
YEAR 2
Network Models And Technologies, Systems Software 2,
Client/Server Networks, Network Administration, Network
Security, Web Authoring, Programming, Communications
and Work Placement.

2 Years
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interviews, mature students are welcome.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Computer Networking, Computer Maintenance, Electronics and Information and Communications Support Area.
COLLEGE LINKS
Students who successfully complete year two will gain advanced entry to year two of the Computer Science Degree course in DIT Kevin Street. Students can also progress to the final year of an Honours Degree in the University of Sunderland. Also, please refer to our Progression Section.
