FETAC Award (Level 5 – AIDXX), Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons)Interior Design is concerned with the revitalisation and enrichment of buildings - with the creation of beautiful, stimulating and practical environments. This course aims to introduce you to the world of design - interiors, sculpture, furniture design, lighting, set design.
Course Content
YEAR 1
FETAC Level 5 award in Interior Design (AIDXX)
The first year of the course contains a broad range of
subjects which lay the groundwork for the practice of
Interior Design: Drawing and Painting, 3D Studies, Visual
Communications, Interior Design, Design Composition and
Colour, Work Placement, Computer Graphics, History of Art
and Design, Communications.
YEAR 2
Higher National Diploma in Interior Design
Drawing Techniques and Approaches, Historical &
Contextual Referencing, Properties of 3D Materials, 3D
Technology and Processes, Critical Study, Professional
Practice & Development, Professional Studies, Computer
Applications in Art & Design, Design Methods, Design
Principles, Specialist 3D Materials, Specialist 3D
Technologies and Processes, Visual and Personal
Presentation, Exhibition and Retail Design, Interior Design,
Commercial Model Making.
CERTIFICATION
FETAC Level 5, HND, BA (Hons).
DURATION
3 years (4 years with BA (Hons) Degree option)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interview (with portfolio). Mature and postgraduate students also welcome.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Interior Design Practices, Architectural Practices, Set Design - TV and Theatre, Craft, Furniture Design.
PROGRESSION TO DEGREE LEVEL
Final Year entry BA at Griffith College, Dublin, BA (Hons), University of Ulster and BA (Hons) Interior Design, University of Wolverhampton.
