This two year course introduces the student to the creative, exciting and challenging world of fashion design and styling. Students
are given the opportunity to explore, experiment and create. The course is designed to develop each student's skills and talents. Projects are tailored to facilitate the discovery of particular individual strengths.

"Meeting the Industry" is an ongoing series of lectures from fashion industry experts (designers, buyers, stylists, retailers etc.) which introduces the students to the wide variety of careers within the world of fashion. After designing their first collection, students get to work with models, stylists and professional photographers.

Course Content

Design, Drawing, Fashion Illustration, Colour Forecasting, Trend Forecasting, Styling, Photo Shoot Direction, Fashion History, Fashion Design, Start your own business, Textile Technology and construction, Pattern Drafting and Construction.

CERTIFICATION

FETAC Level 5 and 6.

DURATION

2 years

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interview. Mature and postgraduate students also welcome.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Fashion Design, Fashion Illustration, Trend Forecasting, Styling, Image Consultancy.

PROGRESSION TO DEGREE LEVEL

Students can progress from this course into Instututes of Technology through the Higher Education Links scheme on obtaining a full award.
