Animation
FETAC Award (Level 5 – AACDX), Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons)This course gives students the opportunity to acquire the principles, techniques and creative skills needed for a career in the animation and media industries. The course interweaves acquiring digital and traditional skills for animation. Students are encouraged to submit their graduation work to major film festivals such as the Galway, Kerry and Darklight.
Course Content
YEAR 1 (FETAC Level 5)
The first year contains a broad range of subjects which lay
the groundwork for the practice of Animation: Drawing for
Animation, Painting, Design Skills, Art History, Image
Processing, Animation Studies, Life Drawing, Drama, Sculpture,
Work Placement, Communications.
YEAR 2 & 3 (HND in Animation)
Audio Visual Techniques and Approaches, Computer Applications in Art & Design, Film Studies, Model Making, Introduction to the Principles of Annimation, Layout & Design, Anatomical Drawing, Visual Communications, Animation Project, Applied Animation, 3D Computer Modelling and Video Post Production.
CERTIFICATION
FETAC Award Level 5, HND, BA Hons
DURATION
3 Years (4 Years with BA (Hons) Degree option).
ENTRY requitementS
Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interview (with portfolio). Mature and postgraduate students are also actively encouraged to apply for this course.

Progression to Degree level
Final Year entry BA (Hons) Animation, University of Wolverhampton, Cumbria University, Graduate students also apply for direct entry to year three of Animation in the College of Art and Design Dun Laoghaire.
