MediaCommunication and Media Production
FETAC Award (Level 5 – EMPXX), Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons)


This three year course provides a comprehensive study of the communication and media production business. The course is conducted in a relaxed yet stimulating environment and has both practical and academic dimensions. Students can gain “hands on” skills and emphasis is on production of high quality media. Access to the most modern equipment enables students to reach professional production standards.
Course Content
YEAR 1
TV Production, Digital Photography, Radio Production, Digital Editing, Media Studies, Sociology, Image Processing, Work Experience, Communications.
YEAR 2
Television Studies, Film Studies, Sound Design for the Moving Image, Studio TV Production, Photography, Studio Music Production, Research Techniques.
YEAR 3
Specialisation in Sound Production or Television Production.
Sound Modules include: Computer Game Sound Design, Radio Documentary, Radio Drama, Music Production, Project Development, Multitrack Recording.
Television Modules include: Film and TV Documentary, Editing, Work within the Digital Environment, Project Development, DVD Authoring.
PLUS
Contextual Studies Dissertation, Special Subject Investigation, TV and Sound Engineering, Work Placement.
CERTIFICATION
FETAC Level 5, Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons).
DURATION
3 Years
ENTRY Requirements
Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interview (with portfolio). Mature Students are also actively encouraged.
