The course in Travel and Tourism includes the study of all aspects of the Tourism Industry as well as reception and customer service skills, essential to gaining employment in this ever expanding area.
In addition to providing a good grounding in the tourism
industry, students will get the opportunity to obtain the
Gallileo examination - which is the industry recognised
ticketing system.
Course Content
Customer Service, Tourism awareness, Heritage Studies, Ticketing Procedures, Information Technology, Safety and Health at Work, Communications, Work Placement, Irish Culture, Language.
ENTRY requirements
Leaving Certificate (including LCA) and interview.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This course will qualify you to work as a receptionist or front office employee in the hotel/heritage business or in some other area of the Tourism Industry.
College Links
Students can progress to a tourism degree in the Institutes of Technology or may wish to access opportunities for promotion to head receptionists or front office manager within the industry.
