General Educataion - Fetac 4 & Leaving Certificate

General Education 1

JUNIOR CERTIFICATE - FETAC Level 3 and Level 4

This is a 2 year course which is aimed at students who have been out of education for some time and who wish to improve their basic skills. The emphasis is on confidence building and their basic skills. The emphasis is on confidence building and delvelopment of general education.

Course Content

In year 1 a range of FETAC Level 3 and Junior Cert subjects s on offer, such as:
English, Communications, Maths, Art, History, Computers

In year 2, student will progress to a wide range of FETAC Level 4 modules such as:
Communications, Computers, Art, Historical Studies, Personal Effectiveness, Cultural Studies

Educational trips to historical and cultural sites are an integral
part of this course.

PROGRESSION

The course aims to enable students to:
> enrich their daily lives
> progress on to FETAC Level 5 courses
> return to the workplace

General Education 2

LEAVING CERTIFICATE - FETAC Level 5

This is a 2 year course which aim to:

• develop basic skills
• foster an interest in learning and building upon existing expertise and life-skills .
• achieve Leaving Certificate and/or Fetac level 5 standard in subjects studied.
• fulfill personal ambition regarding employment or further study.

Course Content

Subjects covered include: English, Maths, Computers, History, Geography, Business, Health and Safety.

Field Studies, Independent Research, Educational and Cultural visits are integral parts of this course.

PROGRESSION

Many of the students who have completed the Leaving Certificate programme have continued their education in PLC courses in Colaiste Dhulaigh CFE. Some students have gone to third level colleges to follow a degree programme. Others have been successful in gaining employment or have become self employed.

General Education Leaving Certificate Fetac level 4

LEAVING CERTIFICATE

This programme gives students a chance to achieve a standard of education, which is essential for many career options and facilitates access to third level courses. It offers adults who are in receipt of social welfare payments an opportunity to gain certification at Leaving Certificate and FETAC 4 level.

There are a range of educational outings organised which complement the learning in the classroom. All fees, books and educational outings are provided free of charge through VTOS.
